Once its own city, the neighborhood of Raleigh is today part of Memphis, TN. People living in Raleigh, Memphis, can take advantage of the number of small restaurants and local bars found in the neighborhood, or they can venture into the downtown section of the city to enjoy an even greater selection of eateries and bars. Whether you’re hoping to have a great date night, a relaxing evening out with friends, or are looking for a quick bite to eat, you’ll find plenty of options in the neighborhood and beyond.

Impress a Date

Head to Flight restaurant if you are looking to impress a date or to experience a different way of dining. The restaurant’s gimmick is that courses are served as “flights.” Just as when you order a flight of wine or beer, and you receive three or four smaller glasses of a variety of beverages, when you order at Flight restaurant, you receive a trio of dishes. For example, you can order the Fish flight and get the catch of the the day, halibut, and grouper. Or, you can order the Farm & Field flight and get chicken, wild boar, and duck. The restaurant will also serve a salad flight and has several chef prepared options for vegetarians. If you leave room for dessert, you can choose from a number of dessert flights, too.

Another downtown restaurant that’s great for date night is McEwan’s. Open for lunch and dinner every day but Sunday, McEwan’s specialty is Southern cuisine. Entrees include sweet potato crusted catfish, Creole braised pork osso bucco, and pan seared rib eye. For appetizers, there’s a southern twist on spring rolls, as well as fried oysters and purple pea hummus.

Skip the Meat

Although Southern cuisine does tend to focus on the meat, when dining in Raleigh, Memphis, there are a number of vegetarian and vegan options. Plenty of places, including Flight and McEwan’s, offer a vegetarian entree or two. If you want all vegan, all the time, you can head to a place such as Two Vegan Sistas. As the name suggests, the restaurant is owned and operated by two sisters who happen to be vegan. Options at the restaurant include a live mock chicken salad, kale chips, and vegan BBQ.

Unlike a lot of vegan or vegetarian restaurants, the food on offer at Two Vegan Sistas is free of many allergens, including soy and gluten. While some of the dishes are cooked, a lot of the menu options are raw, meaning they aren’t heated to a temperature above 105 degrees Fahrenheit.

Enjoy a Night Out

If you’re ready for an evening out and want to listen to music, check out Rockhouse Live. Open until 3am everyday, Rockhouse Live has a happy hour from 11am until 7pm daily. Most performances at the venue don’t have a cover charge, but there may be an admission charge for well-known or national bands. Along with being a place to hear a band, dance, and enjoy a drink, Rockhouse Live also serves food.

Memphis has plenty of dining and nightlife options. Whether¬† you’re in the mood for a quiet meal with your partner or want to dance the night away, you’ll find something to do in the city.
